The Story of FixYou
We often tell ourselves that as long as we don't feel any pain or discomfort, everything is fine. But when it comes to cancer, "early" is the most important word there is.
Getting the right screenings at the right time gives us more than just health. It gives us choices. It saves our bodies and our families from a weight that is often too heavy to carry. Sometimes, one timely check-up is all it takes to keep a risk within a range we can actually handle.
I didn't truly understand this until 2024. My grandfather had been struggling with his digestion for a while, but by the time he finally went to the hospital, he was diagnosed with colon cancer that had already spread to his liver. It hit me then that by the time you actually feel something is wrong, your options are already very limited.
Our family watched him go through months of grueling treatments and hospital stays. For the first time, we felt just how much a single illness can change a person's life and shake a whole family. My grandfather passed away in December 2025.
Since he's been gone, I keep asking myself what we missed.
Cancer is complicated. It involves diet, environment, genes, and age. But in our case, there was one factor I couldn't ignore. We didn't lack medical resources; we lacked clarity. We didn't know when to get checked, what to look for, or what should have been a priority. We simply didn't have the answers.
After my grandfather's diagnosis, my parents and my aunt went for colonoscopies. They found polyps, which were early and treatable signs, and they were able to take care of them safely. That's when it clicked. Screening isn't about looking for bad news or creating anxiety. It's about giving yourself a head start. It's about handling a problem while it's still manageable.
FixYou was born from that realization.
I wanted to do one simple but vital thing. I wanted to take all that scattered, professional, and often overwhelming medical advice and turn it into a clear action plan that anyone can follow. Based on your age, gender, family history, and health info, FixYou tells you which screenings to focus on, how often to go, and when you might need to start early. It doesn't replace a doctor, but it prepares you for the conversation.
I can't change the past. But I hope FixYou can help others have more choices and fewer moments of "if only we had known."
Every bit of love and longing I have for my grandfather goes into every update of this project.
